PLASIEC HOLDS SUCCESSFUL CONDUCT OF MOCK ELECTION USING VOTER VERIFICATION SYSTEM.
The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission, PLASIEC has recorded tremendous progress in the use of the Voter Verification System, VVS.
This follows the successful use of the software which was deployed during the mock elections held on Saturday 28th September 2024 across the three senatorial zones of the State.
The mock elections, the first of its kind, held in six selected Local Government Areas and witnessed a large turnout of voters.
Wase Local Government had Danbiram Ward and Wase Primary School as Polling Unit while Shendam Local Government had Pangwasa Ward and Naburuk as Polling Unit.
Pankshin Local Government had Dokpai Ward and Ngolong Ban as Polling Unit while Mangu Local Government had Ampang West Ward and Pushik I as Polling Unit for the Central Zones.
Riyom Local Government had Shonong Ward and LWA Primary School as Polling Unit while Jos North Local Government had Angwan Rogo/Rimi Ward and Ungwan Rogo Primary School as Polling Unit.
The exercise followed standard electoral procedures involving the deployment of staff and materials, setup of polling units, queuing, checking voter registers, voter verification through the VVS, and the casting of votes.
Positive feedback from both officials and voters highlighted the preparedness of the commission to conduct a credible election.
The system proved reliable in verifying voters identities, ensuring a smooth process without significant delays.
The mock election serves as a crucial step towards the success of the October 9 elections.
PLASIEC is set to achieving one of the best Local Government Elections that will stand the test of time.
