Next Election: Local Government Chairman and Councillor-9th October 2024

Public Notice

CLARIFICATION ON ALLEGED NON-PAYMENT OF RECRUITED AD-HOC STAFF.

The Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission PLASIEC wishes to address concerns raised regarding the alleged non-payment of some ad-hoc staff recruited for the recently concluded Local Government Elections held on the 9th of October 2024.

The Commission understands the importance of this issue and is actively working to ensure that all payments are completed in a timely and efficient manner.

As of today, PLASIEC has successfully processed and completed eighty- five per cent of the payments due to ad-hoc staff.

However, certain challenges have slowed down the payment process for the remaining staff, as the Commission has identified instances where individuals' details, such as names and account numbers, have been duplicated.

Also, the use of unrecognized Mobile Money Operators as well as Micro Finance Banks, which some of the ad-hoc staff provided are not recognized by the payment platform of our issuing bank. This has resulted in rejected payments.

The Commissions Electoral Officers are, however, actively reaching out to those affected by these issues to correct the errors and ensure payments are processed swiftly.

We further advise any ad-hoc staff who still have concerns or complaints regarding their payments to visit our respective Local Government Offices for further clarification and assistance.

PLASIEC remains committed to transparency, fairness, and ensuring that all ad-hoc staff receive their rightful payments. We assure you that no one will be shortchanged, and we are working diligently to resolve any outstanding matters.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
